We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated OWLS Leader (Education and Events Officer)

You should be able to develop, plan and deliver an inspiring education programme. Most of your time will be spent out and about running outreach sessions in schools, mainly primary.  The role will involve bringing nature awareness to primary school children through 'out-of-classroom' sessions, encouraging them to learn about and enjoy nature and inspiring them to discover more in other forms of OWLS education services such as after-school nature clubs.

Alongside your school programme, you'll also work with the OWLS team of staff and volunteers to support wider engagement of children with nature.  This will include activity camps, survival parties, conservation work and public events with an engaging programme of hands-on activities to a broad range of audiences including families, young people and the wider public.

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of one year experience, working with children in a formal setting.  There is no one specific set of skills required to work as an OWLS Leader (Environmental Education Officer), however you will need to be friendly, outgoing and patient.  You need to be able to deliver agreed outcomes and be able to convey concepts in an easy to understand manner. You should be well-organized and pro-active, a team player yet able to lead groups of all abilities while ensuring the health and safety of the group.  A background (qualification) in teaching or Environmental Education/Forest School experience is desirable but not essential as there will be opportunities to attend training courses as well as on-the-job-learning.

Having a clean driving license and access to car to carry out your role is essential for this role.

To apply,  an open letter and a CV is acquired.  Email with the heading 'OWLS Enviro Ed Post' to info@owls.ie.  Please note, that only successful applicants will be notified for an interview.

The closing date for application is 5pm on the Friday 12th July 2019 with the interviews taking place from the 15th July.
